Much has been said this past week about KU football coach Charlie Weis self-deprecating remarks…
“Have you looked at that pile of crap out there?” Weis told reporters his pitch was in recruiting new players. “Have you taken a look at that? So if you don’t think you can play here, where do you think you can play? It’s a pretty simple approach. And that’s not a sales pitch. That’s practical. You’ve seen it, right? Unfortunately, so have I.”
Some see Weis remarks as refreshing, others disturbing.
So is longtime KU supporter Brett Mosiman of Wakarusa and Crossroads KC fame pissed off about Weis harsh harangue?
“Not at all,” Mosiman says. “He’s funny and you think he’s a hair brained crackpot, but he’s just telling the truth. He told the recruits to come to Kansas because they wouldn’t have to wait to play because KU sucks. And it worked.”
Mosiman’s take on Weis picking KU last in the Big 12:
“Well, everybody else who knows football better than me thinks so too. We should be much better but we were much better last year and look what happened.
“KU played 9 bowl teams last year. And nobody else played more than 5 or 6 bowl teams. One of our pre season games was against Northern Illinois and they went to the freaking Orange Bowl.”
Nothing like throwing your players under the bus before the season even starts to save your reputation. If they lose everything, not my fault. Win a few, I took this crap and made it into something better…
Good point.
Maybe it’s a strategy to get the players to try harder.
no…Charlie is a offensive coordinator who chiseled off better headccoaches
and what they gave him to work with.
besides that…his records abysmal….maybe he can take over the blue valley
northwest team….then he’s not over his head….
I agree with you completely.
See, we can get along every now and then can’t we?
If KU is so much in love with fat coaches, they should just bring back Mangino.
That guy was pretty good.
Seriously, how that guy is not a head coach somewhere is incredibly crazy.
Some smart school that needs to get better will pick him up and win.
KU plays pre season football games?
Yep, according to hearne’s ‘expert’.
