New Jack City: Thanksgiving’s Cinematic Fixings—Hold The Turkeys!

Here’s how Kansas City’s Thanksgiving is stacking up on the big screen…

The highlights of Hollywood’s 2012 celebrated turkey offerings at theaters near you are actually pretty impressive this Year.

* Starting this coming weekend with Denzel Washington, Don Cheadle and John Goodman running into major turbulence in FLIGHT.

And Disney Animation going turbo with its terrific WRECK-IT-RALPH voiced by John C. Riley, Sarah Silverman and Jane Lynch.

* One week later on November 9th, James Bond‘s new choice of beer becomes Heineken. It’s the 50th anniversary of the franchise and third outing by Daniel Craig as agent 007 in SKYFALL.

Also debuting is THE SESSIONS in which Helen Hunt turns sex surrogate for 38 year old iron lung patient John Hawkes.

* On November 16 – Oh. My. God.  – the most magical event in vampire history comes to its astonishing conclusion in THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN 2.

Also ueber actor Daniel Day-Lewis returns to the screen in Steven Spielberg‘s LINCOLN, co-starring Sally Field, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Tommy Lee Jones and James Spader.

* Five days later on Wednesday, November 21—as mom stuffs big bird in the kitchen—Hollywood unleashes its Final Four cinematic offerings.

Starting with director Ang Lee‘s fateful voyage of adventure and discovery in LIFE OF PI.
It’s a remake of 1984’s cult-status invasion thriller RED DAWN, this time out with Chris Hemsworth, Josh Peck and Josh Hutcherson.

RISE OF THE GUARDIANS, the magical tale of how Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, Tooth Fairy, Sandman and Jack Frost lay down the gauntlet on an evil spirit known as Pitch (not to be confused with a local throwaway) as voiced by Chris Pine, Alec Baldwin, Hugh Jackman and Jude Law.

Then the stark drama of SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK with Bradley Cooper, Robert DeNiro, Jennifer Lawrence, Julia Stiles and Chris Tucker.

* And right around the corner for Christmas, there’s THE HOBBIT, ANNA KARENIA, HITCHCOCK, THIS IS 40, GUILT TRIP, PARENTAL GUIDANCE and LES MISERABLES.
