Caught up to U.S. Rep Emanuel Cleaver yesterday at his new campaign headquarters at the Uptown Shoppes in midtown…
Naturally the conversation turned towards the massively frustrated fans of this year’s disappointing Kansas City Chiefs team…
Cleaver’s take on the sorry current state of the beleaguered, all but winless local football franchise?
“There is hope,” Cleaver says. 
“Actually, I think the Chiefs are probably one of the top teams in the NFL but I think Matt Cassel is one of the (main) reasons they haven’t done well. I don’t think he’s the quarterback of the future, but you don’t boo anybody when they get hurt. That’s just gross.”
Cleaver is on record as being a huge Chiefs fan. In 1994 traveled with the team to Japan for an exhibition game while he was mayor of Kansas City.
And when hope fails, there is change though all change is not good just as all motion is not forward.
Leave it to Cleaver to say the Chiefs are one of the top teams in the NFL. Maybe in the “fantasy league” he’s apparently playing in. But true to a man of the cloth, he tells us, “There is hope.” I wonder if he spells that Q-u-i-n-n, C-o-w-h-e-r or just O-b-a-m-a? Hmm.

I think he’s doing a great job as mayor of the city. Hopefully he will get the downtown renovation finished. And I hope he gets the stadiums upgraded.

I saw him at Jimmy Johns having the Sugar Coated Satan Sammich. Strangely enough, his car was dirtier than harley’s T shirt after an all nighter of eating chilli with his fingers and commenting on Huff Po. His plentiful and endless failings aside, The Cleav has brass to spare. He acts like he didnt just default on a loan he wasnt really qualified for or capable of paying.
