The Boulevard Drive-In theater has enjoyed a buffo summer…
It also marked its first season in which the movies were shown through the ozoners new 4K digital projection system.
And this Saturday, September 8th, add another first to the Boulevard Drive-In’s offerings.
The first-ever ANIMATION CELEBRATION, a benefit for CinemaKC and the Midwest Association Of Professional Animators.
The one night event gets under way Saturday at 5:00 p.m. with art vendors and a Mentor Center where animators of all stripes will have the opportunity to screen and discuss their works side by side.
Mentors from T2+Black Alley Films, The Adobe Design Core and Video Core Groups will be among the pros on hand to answer questions.
The Boulevard’s new ground camera, which is connected to the theater’s digital projection system, will give willing artists a chance to make their own silver screen debuts and explain their works before a live audience.
Submission screenings start at 8:30 p.m. and include dynamic works from such local studios as Bazillion Pictures, Trinity Animation, T2+Black Alley Films, BRNTFX and more.
Student inspired offerings from the Blue Valley Schools Caps program, Johnson County Community College and the Kansas City Art Institute will round out the big screen presentations.
Emcee for the evening will be Michelle Davidson, co-host of CinemaKC on KSMO-TV and KCLive on KSHB-TV.
Admission to ANIMATION CELEBRATION is $20.00 per carload.
The Boulevard Drive-In is located at 1051 Merriam Lane in Kansas City Kansas.
