If you grew up in the 1990’s, you know PRIMUS SUCKS (but not really)…
Now Les Claypool and his band are bringing their unique blend of funk and psychedelic acid rock to Kansas city’s Uptown Theater on Friday, November 2nd. Two sets are planned, with a likely show duration of 3-plus hours.
This will be the first ever concert tour in 3-D.
George Lucas’ ILM will be providing the special effects and 3-D technology. Concertgoers will be issued complimentary 3-D glasses upon entry.
And in addition to the 3-D technology, Mr. Claypool will be reviving a glorious part of the 1970’s- Quadraphonic Surround Sound. This time out though, it will be digital and again provided by ILM.
Primus had become a bit stale recently, with rather derivative albums that failed to capture the raw energy of classic Primus albums like “Sailing the Seas of Cheese” and “Tales from the Punchbowl.”
However the band’s 2012 release, “Green Naugahyde” was a return to old form. With new classics like “Tragedy’s a Comin’” and “Lee Van Cleef,” Claypool is at his catchy, sardonic, bassy best.
Tickets are on presale right now (the show is General Admission). Tickets are $39.50 plus minimal non-Ticketmaster service charges at Primusville.com.
You’ll need a password to purchase these tickets for the Uptown show. The presale ticket password is “Squirrel”.
The new album, “Green Naugahyde” is available wherever CDs or MP3s are sold (13.99 at primusville.com, 9.99 at amazon.com).
Their first single off the Green Naugahyde album is available for legal, free download at amazon.com. Here is a shortened link.
