Glazer: NBA’s Oklahoma Thunder Pave Path for KC’s Pro Sports Teams

Well we haven’t done enough with the N.B.A. on this site, so here we go…

The Oklahoma Thunder have just run through quite a group of powerhouse teams. They took down last year’s NBA Champs, the Dallas Mavericks; they followed that with dropping the LA Lakers. And tonight they knocked out the San Antonio Spurs who had the NBA’s best record this season.

Maybe more impressive those three NBA giants have won 11 of the last 13 Championships. Now Oklahoma will face either the Miami Heat or Boston Celtics. A win there would make it 12 of the last 13 teams to win it all!

The way it looks, OKC will be the world champ in just a few more days.

Former Big 12 star, Kevin Durant and his co pilot Russell Westbrook are Oklahoma’s main men. They have young legs, great shooting and crazy great talent and in just two short years taken this team from nowhere to everywhere.

After trailing the Spurs 0-2, they came back and won FOUR in a row.

Remember, the Spurs had been undefeated in the playoffs up until that first loss at the hands of  the Thunder. The experts all picked San Antonio and the Miami Heat to square off in the finals. Wrong. Looks like it will be the young lions, the Thunder, fighting the old guard Boston Celtics.

In some ways this gives hope to us Kansas City fans. If the small market Oklahoma Thunder can take down all these giants, maybe, just maybe our young pro teams can follow.

Low key with a couple big stars and a great fan base can make the difference.

It can happen. Great work OKC! On their way to their first world title and I think one of many to come.

    great minds think alike (lol)
after watching okc the other night i thought that kc could support an nba team.
With the lack of anything from dec thru june…it might be huge to bring in an nba team.
If the soccer team can sell out the nba team could sell out sprint.
But we don’t have any big money people to bring a team in here in kc.
Who could we think of with the cash to bring in a big league team….
call buffet…the cerner boys….henry bloch….have larry brown put investors together..
maybe garmin with all their cash…or do what dallas did with cuban and call
z from facebook about owning a team in kc (z wouldn’t do it…he’s not into sports
and he is being sued right now)….
who could it be…how could it be structured…but kc deserves a team….
get on it glaze!!!!!!!!!!!!!! call clint and disney right now.

  3. harley says:

    tipp….instead of calling someone names
chime in with some intellectual comments about the situation. Show us you have something in your
brain athat is worthy of expressing to other people….
No need to insult people…add something constructive to the conversation
and maybe people won’t think you’re the douchebag. because we know who you are
and it doesn’t look good to keep this up….take care.

  4. Monte says:

    Well Said Harley
Why the name calling, guy makes a good point. If Oklahoma can do it, why not us. I’d love a good NBA team in KC. When the Kings were here the NBA was a B pro program, now its top notch, bigger than baseball maybe. Enjoyed your ideas Harley. Why do you guys hate on this man, he seems decent to me?

  5. balbonis moleskine says:

KC will never have a basketball team because we have no billionaires here in town. So whoever would buy the team would have to be a consortium of owners or a benevolent billionaire who wishes to bring the team to a mid sized unsexy midwest market.

The Koch brothers ($25 bn each, Wichita) are really the only options to buy a team. They don’t seem interested, as they are actually running their privately held company. All other local billionaires are either from St. Louis, walmart heirs, or already own a team in the region (Columbia, MO’s billionaire owns the Nuggets).

So I’d say no we are not getting a team. Its not a big deal. We have 2 major pro teams, plus the up and coming soccer team and they are well supported and beloved.

  6. THunder says:

    Um…
It is the Oklahoma City Thunder.

  7. rkcal says:

    the Koch brothers….
aren’t interested in an NBA team because they’re busy running the country.

  8. Glazer Fan says:

    I love how Glazer’s defenders–
write a remarkable amount like Glazer himself. Same syntax and everything!

    The Facts
Kansas City will never have another NBA franchise. That ship has sailed.

Here is an article explaining the situation.
