Make no mistake, this will never happen…
But here are the people I feel would get Kansas City back on the map.
My first Pick: Carl Peterson for Mayor.
Most people are no longer on the "We love Carl" bandwagon. And it’s public knowledge he and I didn’t get along. However Carl is a sharp, smart leader. Peterson made millions for Lamar Hunt. Not just with the Chiefs but with other investments.
The man lands of his feet.
Carl has charisma and knows how to run things. He turned the Chiefs around, especially attendance and profits.
That said, Carl is a dictator and right now Kansas City needs just that. It’s his way or the highway. That’s Carl. We’re so far down – like the Chiefs were in 1988 – that a guy like Carl could start the turn. He makes a great appearance, the guy’s well dressed. He knows the right people. Remember when George Bush Jr. came to town? It was Carl and George Brett who were invited to meet him at the airport, NOT THE FUNK. The guy’ss got powerful friends and that matters.
Obviously it won’t happen. Carl has no interest and is in line to be the GM in Los Angeles with its new NFL team. Or maybe Miami. I think Carl is done with KC.
Number two: Johnny Dare, radio superstar:
You might say WHAT? But nobody has more loyal fans than Dare. He could easily win the job if he wanted it. Remember, he has more than 70,000 very loyal fans. Lots of votes, and another 150,000 that listen. Dare represents the "common man."
And that is KC.
We are not LA or New York. This is for the most part a working class city. And nobody understands that better than Johnny. He does a lot for the city with charity and simply making people feel good about living here. Johnny makes a nice appearance. He’s iin great shape, 40-ish, and well spoken. He’s a star on season three of FULL THROTTLE, the True TV series Dare hosts and is on air as himself. The guy even has a national presence. He knows lots of major stars in music, comedy, film, TV – even politics. Dare is not into city politics but he does care. And he would sure light it up!
But it won’t happen because Dare lives in Kansas and makes a really nice living doing radio. He has little interest in taking a paycut and running this town.
The bottom line: We could do worse and we have.
My father, Stan Glazer:
Stan should have been elected back in 2002. He had a national presence and his NO NEW ARENA campaign slogan, may have been spot on. He meant, let’s spend the money on city services, education and housing in midtown – not on the Power & Light District. Stan, like Carl Peterson, has a larger-than-life persona, which none of our last five mayors have had. He had great ideas and is a memorable character. He would have been a popular guy in Washington, D.C. because he’s a sharp guy who tells it like it is. His calls would have been taken – not so sure with our last couple of mayors – a pretty forgetable group.
Again, it hon’t Happen because Stan is retired and has moved to Kansas. He still cares but it’s a bit too late now.
Hearne Christopher:
Yep, Hearne knows this city as well as anyone. Better, actually. He’s well-educated and a smart guy. Hearne sees the problems of the city on a daily basis. Like Stan, he sees ways to fix things, but they might be a little out of the box for some people.
But we need that.
Do gooders have led this city downhill since 1950. Hearne loves Kansas City and wants to see it come back. He talks to everyone and has the inside scoop.
Why it won’t happen: Hearne isn’t real interested in city government and he also lives in Kansas.
Kyle Kelly:
This may shock and amaze you but yeah, Kyle would be a good leader for KCMO. He’s lived with all the midtown problems for 40 years. His family is well thought of and Kyle also is nice looking and makes a great appearance. Kyle is the most conservative of this group, but KC loves that. And Kelly’s is an institution in Kansas City and again very much liked by the public. Kyle has helped lead Westport over the past 30 years and has a strong following. He is considered a good business person as well. Even though he and I didn’t see eye-to-eye, I still respect his positions and following. He is a success.
It Won’t happen even though he’s the most likely out of the group.
He’s never seemed to want to be in city politics, because he could easily win at least a City Council seat if he wanted. Kyle is a family man and seems to like what he is doing and does
Um, who did I forget? Oh yeah me.
Crap last time I started to run they indicted me, so NO THANKS. But it would be interesting and kinda fun, huh?

Johnny Dare? He’d last 12 hours before his ego caused him to quit. Love the guy on the radio but
he’s a nothing in his personal life. and instead of a wife helping run the city…we get his dog
makeing executive decisions (which in mrs. funkhousers case may be better).

Carl Peterson…maybe…he’s a prick but people hate his attitude. You need to be liked by people to

Why not Black Barbie…the girl knows how to get mens votes…she can use her body to get things
done….knows how to make money in tough times….has a way of getting people to do things they
might not otherwise do….can get the welfare queens votes and the black vote….can get
campaign funds from local pimps…and can stuff the “box” (the ballot box that is)!
Come on…theres some good candiidates running…mike…sly…why waste space on people
who have no idea on how to get things done.
HEARNE IS A HAS BEEN….
herne once had an audience til he got fired at the star. The star has done fine without him.
Now…noone cares about kcc and his little unknown site. He can’t get the big important stories
anymore. He’s over the hill. He once had some scoops but now he’s lim ited to “dog scoops”
crappy artic les about totally irrelevant things….
He’s riding into the sunset. He’s what they now call a “never was”.
Once was a decent writer with a large audience…now he’s been reduced to the
30 or 40 people who read this site.
He took a long hard fall when the star canned him. H could make a comeback but doesn’t
hae the knowledge to actually run something.
His stories are old…worn out…and appeal to the 60 year old crowd and older (marilyn maye/
etc.)…….jardines (the stop for oldsters after bingo at john knox village)….
We could sit around and talk about the good old days for years….even tony makes
hearnes column seem bad.
Maybe some fresh new writers…
How about maria…black barbie…the body builder broad I”m sure has some tips for
getting healthy….the asian broad (give her a column on cooking chow mein with
terriyaki noodles)….hearne needs to upgrade this site…if he does he can regain some
of his previous status…til then…zip/zero/nada.
Harley Proving To Be A Moron Again
First off I think Glazer was being entertaining here, not really saying these are the guys? So you going nuts shows you are a nut Harley. Hearne has about 200,000 readers monthly, making this site nearly as big as the Star or the Pitch. Top three for sure. If it has so few readers why do you bother. Hearne is far from a hasbeen. Stan Glazer? In what way is he or was he a crook? Funny, Glazer is right about Dare, an easy win if he wanted it. You had some good posts, comments recently but now you are back on the hate trail. Why? Do you take meds?

this site gets about 3000 unique visitors amonth..the star get 750,000….the pitch probably 300,000
…..this sad sack site get no visitors compared to the star or the pitch…or any other site in this town.
Not even 200,000 readers…maybe with the star before they fired him…but now maybe
6000 a month at most…I can verify the info thru analysis.
Don’t take meds except supplements but glazer is off on these people to run for mayor.

Harley all my buds read it, and I have at least 20 friends. No really I think this is a very popular site Harley. I was in Waldo drinking for a change and people at the bar were even bashing Glazer from this site. They love to down him, but they like to read him, go figure. I too listen to 98.9 and Johnny. My only issue with him is he needs to brush up on our Chiefs. He hates sports.
