Glazer: Dead Comics Society & Gallagher to Squash in KC Tuesday & Wednesday

And you thought I was self-serving…

Legendary comedian Gallagher at Stanford’s this week, brings a legend to town on the heels of the unexpected deaths of two of today’s most famous comedy stars.

Kind of weird. Gallagher, a fixture on Comedy Central,Showtime and VH-1 for nearly two decades is at Stanford and Sons this Tuesday and Wednesday,October 5 and 6th.

    Uh, Craig, it’s Schimmel.

    Schimmel.

Who the fuck is Robert Shimell? I hope to god you don’t design your club’s promotional/ad materials.

Greg acted strange on Last Comic Standing just about everytime it was his turn to judge and critique the comics, like he was coked up. Which I guess he probably was.

Why does this seem like an advert for Stanford’s?

bob it might be, but so what. I remember Schimmel, he was great, didn’t know he died. Sad.

Glazer, love the gallahger, don’t like you much. So send him to Westport so we can meet him, don’t you come, or Nigro. Send him by himself.

Man, I was sick to hear about Greg Geraldo. One of my favorites. Saw him once at Glazers and once at some other club on Metcalf. Fine comic.

NO ONE roasts like Giraldo. He will be missed. I remember Gallagher from the old Make Me Laugh show. He always killed. It’s hard to imagine he’s still doing his same schtick and getting laughs though

When I read Schimmel had passed i cried.
I met him and another comedian, Bobby Slayton,
after their show at the old riviera hotel in
las vegas on new years eve 1999.
Back then I thought i would be a billionaire..
because everyone was thinking that all the computers in the world would go bad at midnight
so I bought dell stock 4 months earlier. I made
good money but fell short of what I dreamed about.
We ran into them after their show and for an
hour talked with them about everything. I have never laughed so hard in my life. I took my
girlfriend and my 2 cousins and we sat in the
first row. Needless to say Bobby unloaded on
my cousins wife because she was a little
overweight…but two great funny talent comedians
    was incredible.
Together these 2 guys were a riot.
I saw schimmel several years ago at the improv
up north. After the show he set up a table to
sell his dvd’s and we talked after everyone left
the theatre about his cancer and his life.
Robert was an incredible comedian…but he was
also an incredible human being. The money he made selling dvds was going to a fund set up to
buy books for kids with cancer. To overcome what he did with his health and fighting cancer
…none of us (unless we’ve been there) can
    understand.
He made us all laugh..but under that exterior
was a guy who had overcome so much.
He did talk about his father also…and we
talked because many of my relatives werre also
    holocaust survivors.
Life is very strange sometimes. God is only
supposed to give us what we can handle.
Nothing more. For Robert…god gave him
an extra heavy dose of “surrus” (yiddish for
    headaches).
For all the laughs…and all the great memories…both those guys deserve top billing
    in heaven. RIP.
There’s a punchline somehwere there for
schimmel. Oh well…I’ll have to wait til i
get where he’s playing to hear the joke.

Good post jojo….I saw Schimmel at Zona Rosa a couple of times. I started watching Gilrado on Colin Quins Tough crowd and thought he was a major talent…that show has launched some pretty big careers. I think Gilrado resented being so goddamn funny but never getting paid…while jlubs like Louie CK and Norton were blowing up. I see CK is coming this Sunday…if you haven’t seen him live he is the real deal.

    Craigy,

S’up bro’? Miss you here in Hollywood. You’re wasting your time there in Cowtown with all those rubarbs.

    …casting pearls before swine, mijo…
