OK, the team is shitty and playing out the string, but is his show any better? See what kind of ratings his station gets without the Royals.

If I were Zack I would want out too. He knows the Royals will never be a contender in his playing carrer.
Greg, it’s interesting, in 1999, the Twins and the Royals were at the same place. Both were once proud teams close to folding. Both had old ball parks with no sings of a bright future.
In fact, the onwer of the Twins came close to taking the contraction money and run.
Then something happend, the Twins started drafting better, they may not have spend money, but the money they did spend was smarter.
They started getting all-stars and super-stars. They started winning divisions and are a constent playoff team. Now to make matters worst, they get the new downtown ball park.
The Royals on the other hand, still draft bad, still spend money bad and rebuild a old ball park to make it took like Chilli’s.
And the can’t miss prospect who everyone thought was going to be an all-star has bombed. While the Twins in the same draft, draft their super-star.
I hope Zack does leave.

Greg, By the way, is it me or does Nick Wright care too much about what media critics and fans thinks about him?
He e-mails you about you and our takes and he always gets in to it with the guy from Bottomline Communication. Wright even reporterd Bottomline to the FCC because he posted their bad ratings.
Now I know why 810 didn’t offer him a job after his intership, he wasn’t good enough to be on the air.

Regardless of his comments, the team should trade Zack. He’ll never be a part of an above .500 Royals team. Never.
Nick Wright is amateur. Kietzman is full of himself, but his show is lightyears better than Wright’s.
And, for the record, the best sports-talk radio in Kansas City is done by Soren Petro on 810. Easily.

Nick Wright’s mad that his show got pre-empted for Royals games but KC listeners looked to the heavens and mouthed a collective “Thank you God for saving my ears.”
The REASON Wright has that job is they couldn’t gat anybody with a name or talent to come in and anchor a show that would be pre-empted so often. To fail to acknowledge that just shows immaturity and idiocy.
Wright is about as bad at backtracking idiotic comments as Michelle Obama is at making herself look anything but angry.

Alex Gordon is more Algor than A-God, or even a a-god. It’s always easier to talk about the future then the past. If Ned Yost is “The Skipper” Alex is “Gilligan”. We know who Mr.Howell and the Professor are. Is Dan Glass Mrs.Howell, Ginger or Maryann?
I don’t think George Brett realizes how BLESSED he was during his career to have a GREAT owner, GREAT managers and coaches and GREAT team mates. GREAT fans didn’t hurt either.
I understand what he’s saying but I don’t sense that Zack has the same passion and love of the game that GB did to give 100% every time out. Very few players do and that’s what separates the men from the boys.
I agree he’ll never play on a winning Royals team and they should get what they can while the gettin’ is good. The worst thing for him would be to wind up in NY or Boston. If he didn’t produce the media and fans would turn him into a severe head case.

First off when did people in the media start thinking they are bigger than the games they talk about? They are just hangers-on.
Secondly given Zack fragile state emotionally they should look to trade him and with the talent coming up a player like Jason Werth at Philly or some comparable young talent wouldn’t be bad.
I like Zack but I wonder if he is ready for the big city and contender type cities media.
Remeber Donnie Moore of the angels, and Mitch Williams. Failure in a big moment on a big stage with Zack might not be good for him personally.

I just can’t find it in my heart to be upset with Greinke because he’s dead on. With that being said, Nolan Ryan played on some pretty sorry teams and still went to the mound with the theory that they were at least going to win every 5 games. He never walked out and thought “they won’t score enough and I’ll just lose, why don’t I just go through the paces today”. That’s the difference between a winner and a loser. Zack is the best player on a crappy team, but he’s scared to be a ace on a winning team with a major market press push. He can’t have it both ways, unless he wants to go to Minnesota.

How in the hell can Nick “The Shituation” Wright think he’s doing anything close to quality work. His ratings don’t support that notion. Since “The Explanation” I’ve had at least a dozen friends in from out of town who’ve watched with reactions from horror to laughing their asses off. Nick’s character arc is pretty flat. Perseverance and hard work are great attributes but if your gonna rock the mic you need some talent. He has none. I listened to him frequently the first 2 months thinking he might morph into a Max Kellerman type talent. He’s got more in common with Max Schmeling at this point.

Yeah the Royals suck and they have for every season that Grienke has been here, but it’s no excuse, front line Cy Young winners must have the mental toughness to block that out and want to kick the shit out of their opponents every time out. He owes that to his team and the organization that pays him mad jack. He should be thankful to play in a small media town like KC, with forgiving fans. His failures in a market like NY or Boston would destroy his fragile psyche.

It was tasteless and inappropriate. Backing away from the comment would be a positive thing for Nick. Suggesting it was taken out of context, however, qualifies him as a piece of crap.
Your comments about his show are an entirely differnt discussion altogether. You are wrong there as well. I don’t have any particular love for 810, but they have at least a couple of professionals (Petro and KK) with programs. Nick Wright is inexperienced, unintelligent, and just not very good. He’ll be out of big market radio shortly.
