Headed home after work Wednesday night and found myself near the Truman Sports Complex around 6:30 PM.

Greg – dealership service rates range from $90 to $120 an hour. Putting in a battery probably take 5-10 mins, depending on the vehicle and then they’re going to do a safety check, I bet. So your paid them for 20 minutes of work – it is what it is. Try finding a good mechanic to work on your car for less than $90/hour.
Or better yet, you could take your own battery to O’Reilly/Advance/others, test it and replace it yourself in about the same time.
Nice to hear how great the new Arrowhead is – can’t wait to see it next Thursday.
___
GH: I understand the mechanic’s hourly charges for work that requires a specific skillset but putting in a battery is not one of those skills. I think O’Reilly will installl a battery for free. But once you have your car at the dealer’s garage, it’s a hassle to go get it and hope it doesn’t die on your way to the auto store. I just think there should be some common sense charges when it comes to dealerships.

Gregger:
Wornall Automotive on the corner of Gregory and Wornall. Honest and reasonable auto repair. 816-523-2434. Ask for Gary or Ryan.
I hate to sound cliche’ but lipstick on a pig is what they’ve done at 1AD. In true KC tradition , long on style and short on substance. Scott-Todd-Charlie-Romeo-Matt-Clark won’t bring back the glory days.
Last time I was humbled at Arrowhead a guy was taking a post game wiz in the parking lot with his ANACONDA sized penis. Made Smilin’ Bob jealous.
___
GH: Thanks, smartman. I’m heading to Wornall Automotive for my next tune-up. Any idea where I can get a good buy on four new truck tires? I’ve got 75K on my Goodyears and need to re-shoe before winter hits.

While this post can’t hold my interest like KCMO School district news…still a strong post.
That Founders club looks pretty swank…I’m sure Daniel Snyder is taking notes.
#78,79..what up dude?

Great post Greg…very anxious to see the “Hall of Honor” tomorrow night. It along with a more hard nosed – pure football oriented regime have me as excited about the team as I have been in years. Our family is very optimistic in our 48th year as season ticket holders and enjoy your coverage.
___
GH: I saw many older Chiefs’ fans out at Arrowhead Wednesday night, fans in their 80s, who were walking around the stadium and taking in everything like it was Christmas morning circa 1937. Watching these seniors enjoy the many displays made me wonder what they were like 40 years ago when the Chiefs were Super Bowl champs and the toast of the NFL. I hope I get another 40 years to enjoy what is to come.
jojo
don’t count on the extra 40 years greg….
and don’t count on the cheifs doing much this
season. Sorry…but its going to be a fun season but a frustrating season.
Theyre a year awayand without any receivers of
note it might be longer. Charles is the key…if
he can run the ball watch out because then the
d backs can’t forget him. That means even
mediocre receivers that we havecan eventually
get open. Once we see if charles can get open
that will be the key to this season.
as far as the history of arrowhead…who cares?
Guys like you live in the past wondering where
time went. Its over…gone…a different day.
How many times will they honor the chiefs super
bowl victory 40 years ago this year. Everything
is now…instant….what do we get now…more
old bobbleheads…more memories…more old stories….sure they are fun but its getting real old here in kc.
its time for this town and its leaders to demand
more from these billionaire owners and demand it
now. The citizens of kc (not me) went into hock
for these billionaires to have their refurbished
stadiums…now they better start beating on
david and clark and tell them the city needs a
return on that money…
by the way how is the glasss money investigation
going?
DPW
New body, same crappy team…

Great coverage of Camarohead GH! I knew you’d get this covered as it should be.
Battery from WalMart – $79. Install yourself – free. But you can’t sue the dealer when the unrestrained battery bounces up and gets shorted on the hood after you hit a bump in the road.

Great write-up, Greg. Love this blog. Have to admit though that I’m all nostagiad-out when it comes to the Chiefs and Royals. Don’t even like thinking about the old days, because, as you mentioned, it is such a reminder of how far away they are.
At Arrowhead and Kauffman it feels these days like we’re having past, brief successes repackaged and handed to us over and over again in a hope that nostalgia alone will keep ticket sales going. I wouldn’t be surprised in a few years if the Chiefs are planning something big for the 50th anniversary celebration of their Super Bowl win.

Greg:
Wornall automotive is a Hankook dealer. Put a new set on my truck and noticed a big difference in handling, stopping and lots less road noise over the Bridgestones and Michelin’s I had on it previously. They were just as cheap there as I could find anywhere. Like I said these guys are really good and really honest. They also do the BG fluid services there if you’re into stretching the miles out of your sled.
___
GH: I’ve had the BG service done twice over the years and my 1996 Toyota truck’s spedo is just about to cross the 250K barrier. Now that I popped for that new battery I need another 100K out of ol’ red.

Good Job Greg! I’m all about gettin’ at least half a million miles out of a car before you do a frame off restoration.

Chiefs suck, you suck, bobbleheads suck, hunt sucks, teams sucks everything pretty much sucks. The only thing thats does not suck is my wife.
Fk it all. I am taking the dog and leaving. I have lost track of what the point is.

Tony is that you?

I saw the new stadium when the metro’s most successful team (title in 2000, ugh!) beat the world’s biggest team. That would be Wiz over Manchester United.
Arrowhead was cool, but $300 million just doesn’t go very far these days, I guess.

Geag what i want to know is if you can get in mon-fri when the chiegfs aren’t playing? It sounds like a great day visit.
