Move over, Marilyn Maye. It’s not official, but sources say the most fiendish Halloween ticket in town may go down October 31st at Jardine’s jazz club on the Plaza. That because the Max Weinberg Big Band is rumored to be close to inking a deal to raise the dead for two shows there that night.
Weinberg, known as the drummer for Bruce Springsteen and for heading the late night TV action for Conan O’Brien will reportedly be haunting the club with a 17-piece band. Weinberg’s 15-piece group that toured earlier this summer included a 12-piece horn section, five saxophones up front, three trombones in a middle row and four trumpets in a back row, piano and upright bass.
And of course, Weinberg on drums.
One highlight of Weinberg’s show at the Count Basie Theatre last June in New Jersey:
A Beatles Medley of the songs, “Help,” “Do You Want to Know a Secret” and “Kansas City.”
Stay tuned…

How are they gonna fit all that band in Jardine’s?
hearne
They have an extended stage for the larger shows there and have had more than 20 musicians on it at a time. Trust me, the contract rider was worked out well before this show was booked. This is gonna be the town’s tightest ticket.
JimmyD
Not as tight as Tool tickets

Robertoe

Saw this gig in Boston. With all that unmuted brass It will be a sonic nightmare at Jardines for the close to the stage folks. All due respect but it belongs in a bigger venue.

Is Mark Pender going to be there?
Gulliver Foyle, Jr.
Yeah to the Pender question, but, more importantly, will La Bamba be here?
MDLQ
Si La Bamba!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
