Hearne, as I mentioned in Greg’s post, you too have done a decent job of “reporting” during this saga. Though I could care less about who the editor of The Star is, this is your prototypical train wreck and I’m just a casual observer looking for body parts secretly be thankful it’s not me others are looking at. Keep up the good work

She submitted her resignation just 2 weeks after Whitlock confronted Fannin about their affair. Is that what an innocent person does?

So the pot is calling the kettle black, huh? Not you, the Star itself. Once again, the watchdog needs watchin, ha.

Back in the late 90’s when the party scene was bigger, and poeple like Glazer,Chiefs Players,Media personalities were all over town doing blow and gettin blown…law enforcement was aware of it, trust me. However it was a national thing, and for the most part, nobody was gettin hurt by it. I always felt it very unfair for Glazer to have been indicted for just snorting coke, and from what I know, there was really no evidence against him, but his admission after he was arrested, there was no coke on him anywhere, ever, that was found. It left out all these other do gooders to judge him, ha.

So now it comes back to roost. I don’t know Fanin, sounds like a fairly normal person, who justt stepped over the line once too often.

If all this is true and seems it is, he will be let go, I would be sure of that.

Not good timing for the Star, they have enough problems just keeping from going under, they don’t need this stuff.

Hearne you have done a nice job covering all this. I have never been a fan of yours, but your blog, your writers and you have brought home a pretty important stroy. Keep it up.

God this is trashy radio and tv. I love it.

The only thing that could make this better, is if little Nicky Rite would give Fannin equal time on the radio.

Could we hope for a call during the show from Holly and Jason while Fannin is on the air?

Fuck it Fannin, go on the air and fight back!!

    Great stuff!

If Fannin or Zeiman get the boot, (and if were my call they both would), the floodgates will open with lawsuits that McClatchy doesn’t want to deal with. Give Holly a nice bonus when she departs and/or a gig at another paper and then dodge, duck, defer, deny and deflect. Unless somebody has a sex tape it’s all just hearsay, gossip, rumor and innuendo. Mouth open during fellatio, GOOD. Mouth open during deposition, BAD.

When I worked at the Star, I thought EVERYONE knew that Mike and Holly were an item. I really thought it was public knowledge because they were so obvious in the sports department and the newsroom. They were like frick and frack, always together. When Fanin became Editor, NO ONE was surprised that Lawton became Sports Editor. In fact, everyone expected Fanin to appoint Lawton to that position. In my opinion, it would have been impossible for Zieman not to have known about the Fanin/Lawton love affair.

Ethics at The Star have always applied only to the underlings. The favored few are free to violate journalistic ethics with impunity.

Hearne you have won me over. When you did radio here at KCMO, I didn’t care for you, didn’t know you though. I’ve seen Glazer here alot and met Greg Hall once, nice guy. This blog is now really gotten to be top notch. It covers the news, gossip and local as well as nation stars, and its well done.

Enjoy you,Tony and Greg, adding Glazer was a smart move, I read you daily now.

I agree, for a local media gossip blog, you can’t get any better than this. I just wish KCConfidential was capable or interested in covering other issues of importance, like city government or public affairs.

Snorted coke with Glazer?..Hell..Vinny Chase was doing coke last night with his porn star girl friend..no big deal- Ari worked it out with the studio.
I think you and Glazer should throw a KCC party at the Country Club.

I never worked at the Star and I knew that Fannin was fucking Holly. Years ago I knew that.

That alone is not ground for dismissal, though it does make for sticky situations if, uhh, Fannin is in charge of promoting someone. Do you promote your favorite fuck who may not deserve it or do you promote the most qualified candidate?

Either way, you’re fucked. Fannin went with his dick, not stopping to think that he had a sports columnist who loved to burn bridges on his way out the door. Oops.

What is the name of the Media/television message board web site in KC? Any good stuff going on over there?
Anyone spoken up who works at the Star as to the tension/talk since Friday?

When it comes to trashing the Star, don’t they just love the comments!

These blogsters here have a ways to go to build up any credibility above the Star’s. Talk about pot calling the kettle black! I expect Mr C has his detractors for his behaviors too. But we blogsters don’t air OUR dirty laundry, only OTHER people’s!

Funnily ironic how this all is supposedly BIG TIME news, but the town’s former NFL football coach banging and impregnating the girlfriend of the team’s on-again-off-again, “REAL DEAL” running back never darkened the doorsteps of any of the media now squawking over the Whitlock bridge burning.

If Mr. Fannin was having a sexual relationship with a subordinate, his termination is pending. If Mr. Zieman knew of said relationship and promoted Mr. Fannin, his termination is pending.

The bigger question here. Is Holly Lawton hot? And if so, do you have pictures. Also–any truth she may have had an inappropriate relationship with another big-hame at the Star?
