Hearne: More Layoffs, Possible Pay Cuts Coming to KC Star

It’s like this…

One reason it’s proving so difficult to bump embattled Kansas City Star sports columnist Jason Whitlock’s salary:

More layoffs and/or cutbacks appear to be on the way, sources say.

“Whitlock has strong sources that there were more layoffs coming,” says one source – possibly as soon as next week.

But probably not until the fourth quarter, adds another.

    I may not care much for the Star’s left-dominated editorial board (how about some balance?), but I do feel for Star employees across the board. The print media: What an incredibly difficult business to be in these days.

    Star should sign Jason ASAP…need to innovate with Jason..go after 61&81 rev. Jason has the chops to do radio tv you name it. Star needs innovation..web site is pretty crude…Sports section losin juice.
