smartman “Once Blanc gets them in the door their burgers and fries will keep them coming back.”. WRONG! Good PR spin but not true. Chances are that the majority of coupon grabbers are already Blanc customers, so no net gain there just a loss of revenue. The remainder are customers who would not under any circumstances pay the full price at Blanc but see this as an incredible value. If the attempt with this promotion was to grow the core base of customers who visit at least once a week it ain’t gonna work.
eric smartman…75% of groupons redeemed so far are new customers…people who have told us they had heard about blanc, but never came in before…and each groupon holder is coming with at least one guest who had not been there before…so if we do the math that is way over 6000 new people in next six months…we also have regulars who took advantage of opportunity and are coming in with their own guests, last five days business has increased 30% with only 500 redeemed and have seen several new people come back already AND pay full price…just true facts…
MandDShagger Hey Eric, keep capturing that data, have it verified and peer reviewed and then I might believe it. I think you and smartman are both a little off but I’d lean his way.
bschloz 8,400 in a day? Is this true?
I don’t know if I could count to 8,400 in 12 hours let alone plate up 8400 burgers?
Regardless if it was 500 or 8400 it sounds like good business. I ate on The Plaza yesterday…Lunch Special Cheeseburger,Fries,Ice Tea,Tax,Tip equals $15.50. Fo real
Positive Polly Kia Zi, you are ignorant – clearly, you do not understand the concept or functionality of Groupon. Nor are you aware of the many thousands of very happy Groupon users out there.
And, smartman, if Blanc already has a base of 8,400 customers – it’s a testament to their great product, service and leadership. Go Ernesto, Chef Josh, manager Brian and everyone else at all the Blanc Burgers + Bottles locations!
ray kroc to bschloz, the deal is for a coupon that can be used sometime in the next several months. Blanc didn’t have to serve everyone on one day…in fact, the demand was so high that they told people NOT to come the first day. Count me as an existing customer that bought a coupon because…why wouldn’t I?
katie s. oh please, everyone. i’ve purchased offered from groupon for places i’ve heard of but not checked out, gotten my discount, and then gone back again at full price, and so have many of my friends.
Robbie It was a good article, and Groupon is tear’em up. There is another company, Qponskc.com, which is local, and we actually share our proceeds with Kansas City Hospice and Union Station. We are like Groupon, but local. Please check us out. Goes to a good cause.

What’s with the cheese on Wimpy’s burger? He was a hamburger dude. What’s next? Bacon and guac too?

Man this was a refreshing change of pace from the usual Star bashing and the ‘cowtown’ is crumbling propaganda coming from this site.
Great article. Thanks.

Maybe Tracy Thomas can weigh in on this.

Oh, you mean like a pyramid scam? I guess it’s ok, if you want to give your email out to everyone like that.
