that sucks. Maybe you should go to the city council and ask them to remove the 1-hour parking restriction if the area isn’t busy.
But if you parked over an hour, you parked over an hour. I’ve received tickets for even more unreasonable things. Pay it. Or fight it in court. But don’t think you should be an exception.

They broke the law. Plain and simple. The reason he got the ticket and not the car was because he attempted to move the car therefore becoming the user of the car.

Well… my records request from the city of Merriam is here. I asked how many one hour plus parking tickets have been issued in the 4 spots in front of KC Strings and GuitarLamp.com. Remember, My parents and I have witnessed (from the other side of Merriam Drive – Total Comfort Htg & Clg – BIG Windows) that several times Merriam police officers have went in to Strings and asked peeps to move to avoid a parking ticket.
In my case, I walked out of Total Comfort to move the car for my friend when I saw the cop pull up. He still issued me a ticket.
Here are the amount of one hour plus parking written in those parking spots from years past:
2005 = 0
2006 = 0
2007 = 0
2008 = 0
2009 = 0

If there are only four, one-hour spots on an otherwise desserted street, why park in the restricted ones? Maybe no tickets were issued because everyone else can read and obey the law.

The somewhat obvious solution is the signs should have posted hours and days. I seriously doubt the intention was to enforce one hour parking in ultra sleepy downtown Merriam was the intention.

KC Strings wanted the timed parking… Not me! As far as I knew… the one hour time limit was never enforced as shown above in city records. Until now!

Dan is such a cry baby. If he’s not whinning about his “friends” tickets; he’s crying over getting tickets for rooftop displays. He needs to get off city council if every time something related to the city happens to him he throws a freaking fit about it.
Pay the fine, have your friends park in your back lot if they know they are going to be there longer then an hour. Man up, stop crying. Have your friend pay the fine if it was their car you were moving.
Next election vote for the 1 hour parking to be removed or the parking to be ok longer than an hour after 4 on weekends and 6 or 7 during the week.

Talk to the cop, talk to anyone besides the self important arrogant prick that says the law doesn’t apply to him. Research the claim of this being the first ticket issued in this location, rather than taking your’ friends word for it. Let’s face it this guy is your’ friend. You took his side and stayed on it. you write only favorably about him, and far more often than he deserves. Look up his website, this guy is a fame whore. To everyone else, VOTE the loser out before he trashes your’ city. I would also say, if you need heating or A/C work done DON’T USE TOTAL COMFORT!!!!!
