The only team to go 16-0 in the Big 12 this year wears Nebraska on their jerseys and will be dressing in the Muni this weekend, not the Sprint Center. I suppose KU fans have forgotten Stillwater already.

Given that you’d rather talk about your women’s team record, it seems you just as clearly recall that your own Bugeaters/Cornhuskers (Bughuskers? Corneaters?) were not the team that administered the lone league defeat KU suffered this season.

Only DeCourcy (and national writers/analysts of his ilk) has the perspective to be able to critically review their picks for All-American teams. We all watch way more Big 12 than other conferences. DeCourcy watches them all. I trust his perspective way more than I do Nate Bukaty’s. Alcrich wasn’t the player in the second half of the season that he was in the first, and that distinction makes a difference.

Contrary to his status as an “expert”, DeCourcy was reduced to quoting stats as if he had not seen Aldrich’s game as a whole. Bukaty should have asked him how many Kansas games he has actually seen, then asked if Aldrichs’ defense, passing skills and interior presence, not merely stats, qualifies him as all american material. Frankly I hope pro scouts believe his game needs improvement as well, so he’ll be back again next season.

as far as aldrich…if the guy wants to prove
something he’ll have 9 big games to show what
he can do.
If self is smart he lets this guy go on
a rampage. Noone can stop him. He’ll eat
everyone for lunch and get 20-24 points

PT…You do realize Aldrich IMPROVED throughout the season, right? And he had some health issues and personal distractions the first part of the season right? No he didn’t put up 20 points a game but you name me one coach in America who would not choose him to be on their team and I’ll give you a bag of M&Ms.

My KU team has already met my expectations. We have a #1 seed locked, we look great, it is so much fun. IF we make the sweet 16, that is perfecto….. anything else is nuts and cherries.

I’ve seen KU play several times and I realize what a force Aldrich is on defense. I’ve also seem him look like a complete goof on offense. Maybe that’s what others have seen, too?
Why should All America status bother him? He’ll be a multi-millionaire next year if he’s smart enough to turn pro. Sometimes I wonder whether he’s smart enough.

The HD picture for these Big 12 games is excellent. I dont know why it does not always look this good … BUT TODAY IT HAS LOOKED GREAT.

GH: Agreed. I was thinking the same thing tonight as I watched the ISU/Texas game. 38’s HD picture is outstanding. Are they using different (i.e. better) HD cameras for the B12T than they do for the regular season? I have not been impressed with Metro Sports’ HD channel. Picture just looks stretched rather than HD. I think it all depends on the quality of the cameras being used.

I am a huge KU fan but I would say that Aldridge has not looked as good as last year. He seems a little slower and tenative instead of aggressive. I think he is hurt and it has been kept quiet. His father did say that he had a stress fracture. I think he is gutting it out and doing his best but something is bothering him and it is showing in his play. I still think he is a great player even not at full capacity.

There’s a difference between rooting for one’s team and writing objectively. I’ve never covered a team in 40 years as a broadcaster or reporter that I didn’t hope won — if for no other reason because it made everybody around the program happier and easier to deal with — but never felt that compromised a cold-eyed analysis of their play. Maybe it was my trainining in debate, but it isn’t difficult to separate emotion from intellect.
And if you’re not a sports fan, why the hell are you writing about sports? That doesn’t mean you don’t have other interests, so don’t spend all your time watching sports, but if sports no longer holds any interest it’s time to get out.

Regarding HD picture quality.
I see that KU is playing on ESPN2 today, not ch 38, so maybe they were using (borrowing) EPSN’s cameras last night.
If that is true …. why not buy thier own, how much can they cost? It is only the most important part of the TVmachine.

but come on, they are in the TV broadcast business, the whole plan requires a camera, so why not invest the $100,000, or $500,000, and buy some good cameras? IT IS ONLY THE MOST IMPORTANT PART.
Skip this 3D BS….until all braocasters have good HD cameras. ( going to 3D before that is like wanting to clone humans before they can cure Stevie Wonder’s blindness – it is like they are skipping a step,,,,or they dont know what they are doing)
They sold us /they told us all to go out and buy these high dollar HighDef TVs, and we did …. and some of us are paying extra for HD feed, so wh yarent they doing their part and buying all quality HD cameras?
I went a tirade ( surprise surprise ; ) a couple of years ago against the stupid NFL showing 2 games a week in SD. 14 were HD ,and 2 were SD??? wtf??? I went ballistic when it was the Chiefs turn ( remember the Chiefs, they used to be and NFL team) and they showed the Chiefs game here in Kansas City in Standard DefSD. I contacted everyone I could find and told them cut the SD. I dont know if I did any good, but I have not seen an SD NFL game since then.
We have all moved up to HD, it is time EVERY TV broadcaster/network/staion did too. Maybe it will require an act of congress …. after all the enacted a law requiring digital TV …. and to this second I dont know why.

tip for viewers. I still have the ole SD TV (sitting below the twin wall mounted HDs) in the corner, and when games are shown in SD, we trun on the ole SDmule,,,becasue SD looks better on and SD box…… and SD looks like horsepoopy on an HD TV.
ok I am gonna get off my soap box, cuz I gotta eat my breakfast on it, cuz I sold my dinner table to buy the HD TVs. ; )
