Please stop qouting frank boal and jack harry
and Al wallace. They represent the “old washed
up announcers” on kc tv. Not one of them has
been right on any number of recent issues.
Pioli and Haley won’t let these guys into their
circle of trust so all they are doing is guessing
what the Chiefs are doing. They are all off
base on what the chiefs are doing. They are ignorant of the moves and thinking of the
chiefs so they have to jump on their own
biases to say something that’s relevant. Boal
is gone. Harry is almost out the door and should already be retired and Wallace is probably still employed because of AA (sorry
folks, I’m a liberal but that’s the fact of
life in tv…and in kc there are very few
african americans left on local tv and letting
him go would create huge problems for Fox 4).
Brett is right. These guys who never played
have no idea what’s going on.
Look at the Royals. Kietzman makes up crap every
day trying to explain the Royals and what they
are doing. He made crap up about about Self and
what he was thinking and saying about the Henry’s. The guys in another world and with a
head as big as his it’s surprising that the
studio isn’t built in kemper arena so he
    can fit in it.
I said it 3 weeks ago. The Royals with all their
problems will eventually get hot. In the last
9 games starters have pitched at least into
the 6th inning. Not one announcer has made
this prediction. Not one of them can see past
their b.s. and desire to be “entertainers”.
The Chiefs are going to be good this year.
If nothing else they will playing hard the entire
game which could get them 4 or 5 more wins
    just by being in condition.
The Royals hopefully will do well on this
road trip. Breaking even or winning both or
one of the series sets them up for a good
july at the k. If they can be within 7 or 8
games at the break attendance should be pretty
good thru the middle of August. If they are
close on August 1 attendance will be great thru
August even though back to school will cut their
    numbers.
Although we all have been critical of this
team and manager, they are going to get hot
because the bats have got to start hitting
eventually and with a 20 percent rise in
average they should be scoring 4 or 5 runs a
game. If they cut down critical errors ( thats
a big IF)..they can make it close going into
    August 15.
There’s noone in this city predicting that
becasue none of these guys know sh*t about sports.

Greg….any idea why KK HAS to speak negatively about Tony G at every chance? He always did the same thing with Mike Sweeney. Probabaly 2 of the best players/citizens that have played in KC in the past 20 years. KK has to be negative when somebody is “more popular” than him I guess. Probably time for him to leave high school!

Greg – you and Kevin need to get a room. It seems you start every article with a quote from him.

Ten wins? Yes the AFC west may be weak (gotta feeling Denver will be better than we think) but the rest of the Chiefs schedule–against mostly teams from the NFC East is brutal.
And Greg, hate to nitpick, but I will. It’s Kolby Smith not Colby.

I would really like to smoke some of what TG and JT are inhalin’. Greg, do you have any idea what the Vegas odds are on the Chiefs winning the division, league or Superbowl?

Vegas has the Chiefs at winning 5 games over or under, and they are one of the longshots at the superbowl, 200 to 1…there are a few teams lower…thats to win it…they are going to improve I think 6 and l0 is more likely…what killed this year are two things, the line-up of teams we play is almost all the last years playoff teams and many on the road…to start on the road at Baltimore is awful for us…and we just don’t yet have the talent…this is going to be a long preseason regular season…just to look at who will be with the team in 2010 and thats when I look for the Chiefs to win plus l0 games…hopefully a little easier sched….I think had we had a softer schedule this season, the front office might have kept Tony and bought a few more stars to compete this year..but its too uphill for now…I believe in this teams quick and good future

Carl and Pioli may be similar in that they have both inherited difficult situations and that they have similar roles, but I’d have to believe that the two men are different in their approach to the job.

I have no doubt that Carl wanted to win games, but he was also consumed with the financial side of things, selling season tickets, maintaining the appearance of a tough SOB negotiator, trying to affect NFL policy, etc. In other words Carl did many things, but none extremely well.

With Pioli, it appears (so far) that winning championships is all that matters.

As a fan, Pioli’s approach is the one I prefer.

    Greg…

Is it true that you and Nick Wright have been dating on and off for a couple months now? Just wondering since he is the only person you mention EVERY column.

I’m beginning to wonder if Jojo has anything better to do than to write and essay after each article. Everytime I see a long, unending comment (which I don’t waste my time reading), I notice it’s from Jojo. Booorrring

Hmmm, let’s see. Jam says Greg and KK need to get a room. Dan Davis says Greg and Nick Wright are an item.

Yep, looks like Greg is actually writing a pretty fair column based on those comments from the same article.

I think if KK and Greg got a room, it would have to be padded with no loose objects harder than Nerf balls to hurl. This feud is approaching Hatfields and McCoys in duration, if not in bloodshed. I can feeeel the love.

I can’t believe no one got Greg’s comment that Hank Stram was an underachiever. I concur that Hank had GREAT talent and he obviously wasn’t able to duplicate his success with New Orleans. But he really changed the game and to say he was an underachiever seems a little harsh.
