So, I get in the car at 5:30pm to drive home and turn on the radio to catch up on today’s events. On 610, I get chatter about the Henry saga and some callers. On 810, I get the Frank Boal farwell tour. Sorry, I love ya Frank but you were not the story today. Needless to say, I went back to 610 and stayed there.

Carl Henry is a media hog and he has manipulated this whole process so that he can look important when it really makes him look pathetic. Carl Henry has lost his relevance and tries to make up for it through his children. A guy who has been around reporters his whole life and now he can’t figure out how to not give the reporter a controversial story. Wherever CJ or Xavier go is fine with me but I have lost any respect I might have had for their father. Your two minutes are up and its time to get off the stage Carl.

I may have been wrong in the OTC comment thread Tuesday in granting the charitable view that Carl Henry is not functionally illiterate. If JBM was really doing a “hatchet job” on the Henrys, he would have quoted Carl phonetically. The more he talks, the dumber he sounds.
The good news for basketball fans should the Henry brothers transfer to Kentucky is that we get a year of respite from hearing anything about them, since — unless KU is stupid enough to grand them a released from their NCAA letters of intent — they’ll have to sit out a year (which CJ probably already has to do after transferring from Memphis). But then, I don’t know, you know?

Xavier has already signed his Letter of Intent with Memphis and was released. He can’t sign another one, so he is absolutely free to go wherever he wants as long as he hasn’t enrolled at KU. He did sign a grant-in-aid agreement (I think that is what it is called) which says he’ll accept scholarship money that the university has promised him, but it isn’t binding like the LOI is.
CJ is under walk-on status since the Yankees are paying for his school as part of his contract with them. The last word on his transfer situation is that he would not have to sit out a year as he falls under some strange condition for a walk-on who didn’t play or didn’t practice for 14 consecutive days at the school they were going to but also wasn’t recruited by that school. CJ also hasn’t enrolled at KU so he’s still free to go wherever he wants.
Basically, if the Henrys want to go, there is nothing tying them to KU right now other than their word.

This reminds me of an interview Don “don’t replace the carpet, it will cost a” Fortune did with JaRon Rush after he signed with UCLA. When Don asked him what his major was going to be, Rush stated “I don’t know.” I knew right then that the kid would be a wash. He wasn’t even bright enough to lie and say something like PE or any of the other favored degree programs for these glorified hubcap thieves.
Isn’t it time we stop all this foolishness about ametuer athletics? Used to be a kid was grateful that he got to continue the pampered life of an athlete and if he was lucky, he could leave school in 5 or 6 years with a college degree. Too bad few of them today get an education, let alone a degree. If these kids are all that and a bag of chips, let them enter the NBA hardship draft. If the NBA hears you speak, they would surely grant them hardship status.
If Daddy Henry applied for a job with my company, I’d have to ask him if he really did go to a major university,and if so, did the professors really let you get away with speaking like a freakin’ crack dealer? What I find interesting is that kcforum.net, a anti-KK site when talking about this issue really never brought up C&C scoping him, most didn’t know of the C&C interview until the guy from Bottomline Communication brought it up.
In fact many were talking about how KK is reacting to the story and not anything the father said or C&C.
The idea that this interview was hugh rings a little hollow. In fact most of the posters thought it wasen’t a story at all.

Face it, there is a new game in town and C&C actually put on a good show while your mancrush does infomercials and lies. Saying he talked to Carl Henry and was told the same thing, Bullshit. One of his interns listened to C&C and brought him up to date.
Geez, why anyone listens to KK anymore is beyond me. Can’t stand his show, his informercials and lack of preparation. I’m thrilled that 610 has now given me an alternative.

I think C&C are a couple of amateur hacks, Anderson starts talking and won’t shut up, Chris sits there like a bump on a log totally silent for long stretches of time letting Anderson babble on and on, they really have no impressive sports knowledge of any kind what-so-ever, you can hear better sports takes in a freakin bar…but having said all that, I am so disgusted by KK and Clinkscale that anything is a better alternative.
610 will never beat 810 in the ratings but at least we have another option on radio from 2-6pm.

Bottom line. Two stories. Some may say big stories. George Brett rant and now Carl Henry. 610 beat 810. Eventually I’ll do an entire review since the return of Greg to see what the score is. But I just feel 610 is beating 810 pretty regularly.
All of this being said. What does it say about KU education that Carl can’t talk?
